Symantec’s extensible NAVEXTM antivirus technology defends against new and known viruses. Attachment and subject line blocking capabilities provide hour-zero responses against, and support for hourly definition updates enables organizations to respond quickly to, emerging threats. In addition, a Mass-Mailer Cleanup feature eliminates worm-infected viruses. With integrated LiveUpdate(TM) functionality, virus definitions can be deployed enterprise-wide without stopping scan services or incurring server downtime.
Basic spam tools include heuristics-based detection, custom filtering rules, and real-time blacklists and whitelisting. Messages can be handled differently depending on the Spam Confidence Level assigned. Unwanted content can be filtered by message characteristics such as subject line, attachment type, message size, and body text.
An optional Symantec Premium AntiSpam add-on subscription service, powered by Brightmail technology and response, enables organizations to achieve high detection rates of over 95% and the industry’s highest accuracy rate against false positives (99.9999%*). Multi-layered spam prevention, with Symantec Mail Security, leverages over 20 filtering technologies, including spam signatures, heuristics, reputation filters, language identification, and proprietary methods, with automatic updates occurring every 5-10 minutes. No new software or hardware is required, and the service requires no additional IT administration or tuning once deployed.
Symantec Mail Security(TM) for MicrosoftExchange provides full support for Exchange 2003, including the VS API 2.5 and SCL functionality. It can be centrally managed through a multi-server console, enabling simultaneous updates to all MicrosoftExchange server settings across the enterprise. Purchases must be for 10 or more to be elligible for volume licensing.
