Packet Virus Scan
SifoWorksTM U-series firewall provides real-time scanning of packet traffic based on various protocols such as HTTP, FTP, POP3 and SMTP. This protects the enterprise network, right at the gateway, from viruses, worms and malware embedded within transferred data and web pages. The U-series supports two anti-virus engines: ClamAV and Sophos. ClamAV signatures can be updated as frequently as desired, to ensure an accurate scan; annual subscription is required for Sophos updates.
Intrusion Detection and Prevention
This embedded IDP system covers 2,900 types of attack definitions, and its definition database can be continuously updated with newer definitions, at no additional cost. Users can also create flexible attack definitions in anticipation of specific threats. Besides providing real-time messages to users on specific attacks, the U-series also provides comprehensive statistics and reports to help users track and audit the source of threats.
Anomalous Traffic Detection
If the system detects abnormal traffic flow outbound to the WAN, it will identify the specific source IP in the LAN, and block traffic from this source. A U-series appliance can also direct certain switches to shut down the port connected to this source, and prevent internal broadcast of large numbers of attack packages that can slow down the network or even paralyze it.
QoS Bandwidth Management
The U-series can guarantee sufficient network bandwidth for specific services and servers, which includes allocating maximum or guaranteed bandwidth, and prioritize packet queues. The system also helps you to manage your network resources more effectively by allowing you to control and manage download volume, and configure the number of concurrent sessions for a specific source IP.
Inbound/Outbound Multi-homing Load Balancing
The U-series provides powerful traffic load balancing function. Externally, it provides load balancing for company web pages, email services and specific servers; within the network itself the system supports two ISPs with various load balancing modes. The administrators can also define policy route to manage the network bandwidth, and maintain a stable and uninterruptible network.
Spam Mail Scan
The U-series provides a comprehensive suite of anti-spam scanning mechanisms that is adaptable to your current network structure via transparent or forwarding mode. Besides using various scanning mechanisms such as Bayesian filtering, spam fingerprinting database and network RBL database queries, users can create user-defined filter rules, black lists and white lists. When spam is detected and quarantined, the system will tag the spam mails and then alert the users, giving each user an opportunity to un-tag and retrieve valid emails if they were wrongly tagged as spam. The system learns from the untagging process and, even without the user defining new keywords, improves its recognition accuracy significantly to over 99%.
Content Filtering
Instant Messaging and Peer-to-Peer software bring potential security risks and consume valuable network bandwidth. The U-series can recognize and limit the network connections from popular applications such as MSN, QQ, Skype, ICQ, BT, eDonkey. In addition, the system helps you to control and manage content downloaded via HTTP and FTP. These include restricting the type of file attachments and filtering components such as ActiveX, Java and Cookies that come with the web pages.
Audit Reports and Traffic Analysis Graphs
The U-series provides a wide range of charts and reports for your reference, including virus scan and IDP defense logs, spam statistics, traffic graphs (MRTG) and packet traffic rankings (Top N). The system also provides management tools such as SNMP and real-time email alerts to help you monitor the system status and track and audit specific events.
Built-in IPsec, SSL and PPTP VPNs
To meet the rising mobile office demand, the U-series not only provides IPsec and PPTP VPN, it also provides SSL VPN as the most convenient solution for remote access. Mobile users only require a web browser to easily connect to the SSL VPN and access the internal servers. The IPsec and PPTP VPNs are compatible with Windows VPN client. This not only enhances your company’s productivity, but also lowers your maintenance cost significantly.
