Real People, Cool Careers - Volumes I and II
Each volume is filled with the stories of real young people and the exciting careers they have chosen. From minor league umpires trying to make it to the big leagues to nurses and paramedics helping to transport patients by helicopter in the Air Angels. And best of all, these are careers that take less than a bachelor's degree and are open to anyone willing to work hard. Your students will be inspired by the work these young people do and the stories they tell.
Volume I includes interviews of a female police officer, two medics in the Air Angels, a massage therapist, a small town radio announcer, a pilot, and two umpires paying their dues in AAA baseball.
Volume II includes interviews of a registered nurse, a graphics animator working at a firm in Chicago, a firefighter, a copy editor at a newspaper, and a sous chef working in a family-owned, fine dining restaurant.
There are 35-40 pages of reproducible, classroom activities included.
