EasyBook Deluxe Writing Workshops from Sunburst
Takes kids on an educational and entertaining journey back to Colonial America to show life as it was lived in the original thirteen colonies. Shot at historic restorations in York, ME; Philipsburg Manor, NY; Philadelphia; and Colonial Williamsburg, program interviews "Colonists" at each site so viewers can explore the similarities and differences in lifestyle in each colony. Helps students relate the colonists' lives to their own.
Stops first at early settlements at Jamestown and Plimoth Plantation, then travels successively to York, Philadelphia and Williamsburg. Interviews with a "Colonial" schoolmaster and a "Colonial" jailer's wife uncover interesting facts about educational practices, schools, government, crime and punishment in Colonial America.
Explores the different types of industry found in the different colonies, and how those industries helped to define the lifestyle of the people in the area. Examines what the people in each colony ate, what they did for fun, and what it was like to be a child in Colonial times.
The teacher's guide provides discussion questions, mini-dramas for students to act out, related literature suggestions, and exercises in map skills.
