The SonicWALL TZ 170 Series is the ideal total security platform for small networks including remote and branch offices and retail/POS deployments, providing organizations a choice between absolute ease-of-use for basic networks and unsurpassed flexibility for networks with more complex needs.
Integrating a deep packet inspection firewall, 802.11b/g secure wireless, gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention, content filtering, failover/failback technologies, and IPSec VPN capabilities into a cost-effective solution, the TZ 170 Series scales to protect your investment as your organization grows. Available in multiple hardware and node configurations, including the SonicWALL TZ 170, TZ 170 SP, TZ 170 Wireless and TZ 170 SP Wireless, the TZ 170 Series allows you to add features and functionality when your network needs them.
TotalSecure for Small Offices:
The SonicWALL TZ 170 Wireless (10 Node) TotalSecure and SonicWALL TZ 170 Wireless (25 Node) TotalSecure are total security solutions delivering flexible scalability to organizations of all sizes - from single telecommuters to remote and branch offices. The SonicWALL TZ 170 includes an optional port which can be configured as a WorkPort for telecommuters sharing a broadband connection, a second LAN for added internal security, or a second WAN for ISP failover and load balancing when using SonicOS Enhanced. The TZ 170 also includes a 5-port MDIX LAN switch that allows multiple home or office computers to network together. Included with the TotalSecure 25 is a one year subscription to SonicWALL's Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service, a one year subscription to SonicWALL's Content Filtering Service, one year of 8X5 technical support and a license to use SonicWALL's ViewPoint reporting software.
Every SonicWALL Firewall / VPN appliance includes these basic features:
Deep Packet Inspection Firewall. - The firewall features a configurable, high performance, stateful deep packet inspection firewall for extended protection to key Internet services such as Web, e-mail, file transfer, Windows services, and DNS.
Real-Time Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention. - The firewall extends security from the network core to the perimeter by integrating support for SonicWALL's Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service, delivering real-time protection against the latest blended threats, including viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, software vulnerabilities and other malicious code.
Dynamic DNS. - The firewall includes Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) support, which drastically reduces the costs associated with hosting e-mail servers, Web servers and site-to-site VPN by allowing the use of dynamic IP addresses.
Easy-to-Use Configuration Wizards. - The firewall features an innovative Web interface that utilizes a comprehensive suite of easy-to-use configuration and management wizards designed to guide users through the configuration steps for common user network environments or scenarios, making it simple to set up in any network environment.
Hardware AES Support. - The firewall reflects SonicWALL's commitment to open security standards by including hardware-based acceleration support for the 3DES and AES encryption algorithms.
Comprehensive Central Management Support. - Every SonicWALL Internet security appliance can be managed using SonicWALL's award-winning Global Management System, which provides network administrators with the tools for simplified configuration, enforcement and management of global security policies, VPN, and services, all from a central location.
The TZ 170 Wireless also includes these other outstanding features:
Integrated Firewall, VPN and Wireless Access Point. - The TZ 170 Wireless integrates deep packet inspection firewall, IPSec VPN and 802.11b/g wireless access technologies in one easy-to-use solution, reducing the time and cost burdens associated with supporting multiple solutions.
Wireless Intrusion Detection Services - The TZ 170 Wireless protects wireless networks by detecting and preventing three widespread threats: rogue access points, disassociation attacks and association flood attacks.
Wireless Guest Services. - The TZ 170 Wireless allows network administrators to create user accounts for occasional guest users such as consultants and contractors that permit wireless connections to the Internet without providing access to the corporate network.
SonicOS Enhanced, an optional software upgrade for the SonicWALL TZ 170, adds:
Real-Time Blacklist Spam Filtering. - The TZ 170 provides the ability to use DNS to query Real-Time Black List (RBL) services that track well-known spam and open-relay SMTP servers, and to deny SMTP connections from servers that appear on the lists.
Configurable Optional Port. - Upgrading to SonicOS Enhanced allows the optional port on the TZ 170 Wireless to be configured either as an additional LAN, WAN, DMZ or WLAN offering greater network configuration flexibility as well as internal security.
WAN ISP Failover and Load Balancing. - The SonicWALL TZ 170 offers the ability to configure the optional port as a secondary WAN port, delivering highly reliable network connectivity and robust performance. This secondary WAN port can be used in "active-active" load sharing or failover configuration providing a highly efficient method for maximizing total network bandwidth.
Object-based Management. - The SonicWALL TZ 170 provides the ability to define an object such as a user group, network address range, service or interface. When security policies change, the administrator can modify the pre-defined object and propagate the changes instantly without redefining rules, enabling businesses to implement and manage security policies easily and consistently.
Policy-based NAT. - In addition to standard NAT (many-to-one) functionality, the SonicWALL TZ 170 also exposes control of NAT policies to administrators for one-to-one NAT, many-to-many NAT, one-to-many NAT, inbound Port Address Translation (PAT), flexible NAT (for overlapping IP addresses), as well as NAT policies on selective source/destination/source translations. The result is greater control and flexibility to support and manage various NAT requirements.
Onboard Quality of Service (QoS) Features. - The SonicWALL TZ 170 uses industry-standard 802.1p and Differentiated Services Code Points (DSCP) Class of Service (CoS) designators to provide powerful and flexible bandwidth management that is vital for Voice over IP (VoIP), multimedia content and business-critical applications.
