Details
The Beyond Question student response system is an interactive tool that assists in the education process by engaging students through the use of hand-held remote control devises. It provides instantaneous feedback to teachers ensuring that the material has been effectively taught and thoroughly comprehended. It is compatible with most software testing materials and media, automates attendance and teacher/trainer evaluations and is regarded by its users as the easiest system to set up and operate. Priced at $1,399, our standard 30 remote IR system is regarded as the best value in the student response industry.
Easy Setup - Beyond Question has been designed from the ground up with the non-technical customer in mind. Every aspect of both the hardware and the software has been designed to be intuitive and as easy to use as possible. Setting up the hardware is as simple as plugging the pre-assembled receiver into the back of a computer. That's all there is to it.
Installing the software is just as easy. Simply insert the Beyond Question CD and then click the "Install Beyond Question" button on the screen that appears. You can change the suggested settings if you want to, or you can ignore them and proceed by pressing "Install." Within thirty seconds, the installation will be complete, Beyond Question will be up and running, and you can even begin using the software to ask questions immediately.
Engage All Students - Beyond Question is designed to adapt to the style of the individual using it. You can prepare rosters and lesson materials ahead of time, import from existing sources, or simply begin asking questions immediately without any prior preparation.
In any case, Beyond Question's interactive nature will help you quickly grab and hold the attention of your students, making sure that your lesson gets across.
Improve Student Test Scores - Because attention and concentration are key elements of the learning process, Beyond Question's ability to focus students on the lesson easily translates into better retention of the material being taught with a corresponding increase in test scores. Students that use Beyond Question become more involved with the lessons; by allowing every student to respond to every question, students feel that they have more of a stake in what the correct answer really is. They can immediately see how their responses contribute to the class as a whole and whether or not they're on the right track.
The instructor can use this same information to fine tune the amount of time spent on various topics, ensuring that problem areas receive more attention and precious time is not wasted on subjects that are already well understood. Most importantly, Beyond Question keeps the instructor informed and up-to-date on how individual students are performing. It becomes easy to distinguish those who are faring well from those that need more assistance.
Simplify Grading and Attendance - Beyond Question comes with a simple, yet powerful system for automatically grading quizzes or tests administered with the system. Simply specify the correct answers and the program will calculate the percent answered correctly for every participant. Alternately, it is possible to specify point values for each question. The program can then total the points for a final score or use them to calculate a weighted percentage.
Plus, as an added bonus, Beyond Question automatically keeps track of which students were present and which were absent anytime you use the system. This information is prominently displayed on the roster screen in the form of checkmarks next to the names of students that participated, with a count of the total students present at the bottom of the screen. With the help of Beyond Question, it will never be necessary to call roll again.
Track Student Progress - Beyond Question not only makes it easy to interact with students on a daily basis, but it also allows you to save the results of those interactions for later viewing. You can save the answers to a file and easily e-mail a copy to a colleague or to another location. Likewise, you can copy the file to disk for convenient transportation or simply keep it on your computer as a record of the students' performance.
If you want to do even more with the information, you can print the results or export them to a favorite spreadsheet program. You can even copy and paste them directly into your desired destination. It's also possible to print or export entire rosters or copies of the questions in your lesson. Recording and sharing information has never been easier!
Compatible with Existing Materials - Time is a critical resource, and it's not always possible to create or recreate large quantities of materials ahead of time. It's important to be able to reuse the effort that has already gone into preparing presentation materials in other formats, and Beyond Question provides extensive support for this approach. PowerPoint® presentations, word processing documents, third-party content providers, and even printed materials-Beyond Question is designed to work with them all. Below are a few examples.
PowerPoint - Many presenters today use PowerPoint as the tool of choice for displaying information and ideas, and Beyond Question provides unsurpassed support for this in the form of seamless integration with the PowerPoint application. Just use Beyond Question to open an existing PowerPoint presentation file on any computer with PowerPoint installed, and Beyond Question will automatically start PowerPoint if it's not already up and running and create questions that correspond to the presentation slides.
Then just indicate which slides contain questions. Beyond Question will start the presentation for you at the appropriate time and will automatically remind students to answer when a question slide is encountered. All incoming answers are recorded, graded and made available for immediate review as usual. You can even use the instructor's remote to control the PowerPoint presentation. You can move between slides, control when students are allowed to answer, and toggle between PowerPoint and a bar graph showing how students have answered as a group.
Word Processors - You don't have to prepare your questions in Beyond Question. If you're more comfortable working in a more familiar word processing application, go right ahead. Just leave several blank lines between each question and make sure that you save the final result in "Text Only" format or, if you're using pictures, in "RTF" (rich text) format. Then open the file with Beyond Question. Your work will automatically be split into separate questions that are ready to go.
Printed Materials - Because Beyond Question doesn't require you to enter questions ahead of time, you can easily reuse existing printed materials, either by handing out copies or by using other display devices such as overhead projectors or document readers. Indicate to the group which question you're on and let Beyond Question collect the answers. New questions will automatically be added to the lesson as needed when you click the "Next Question" button, so you can go through the entire document without any preparation in Beyond Question beforehand. You can even pose questions to the group on the fly and use Beyond Question to record and display the responses.
