Tommy the Time Turtle
Grades 2-4. Includes two complete programs: The “Pre-Emergent” level ESL program as well as the full English version. In the ESL version, all of the audio, and all of the text instruction, is in Spanish. Tommy the Time Turtle is a colorful guide for helping students with learning to tell time. Tommy guides students through activities that teach telling time by the hour, half hour, quarter hour, five minutes, and one minute. Each level consists of an interactive tutorial in which Tommy cheerfully shows you one way to tackle the task at hand. The tutorial focuses on the face of a clock as it pertains to the time level chosen (hour, half hour, etc.). The tutorial is followed by a ten-question exercise to test what you have just learned. The clock face indicates a time, and the student must select the correct time from a multiple-choice list. A correct answer gets an animated response from Tommy. An incorrect response gets “Sorry” and give the student another try. If the second try is incorrect, the answer is displayed. At the end of the 10 questions, Tommy will show how well the student has done. Tommy also makes a “What Next?” recommendation. If you have correctly answered seven or more questions, Tommy will recomment that you continue on to the next level. If you missed three or more questions, Tommywill suggest that you repeat this level. In addition, there is a “Practice” session where Tommy gives you the time and you get to set the clock hands to the correct time. All together, fun and engaging way to learn time-telling.
