Tracking Down Parts of Speech
Detective Adventure!
Students play the role of a detective who must solve "cases" while identifying nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. The mysteries are solved when the student correctly identifies the parts of speech. This game uses high-quality, 3-D graphics and animations to keep students' attention focused. Contextual help is also provided to better focus student answers.
How it Works
As students log in to the software, they encounter a hallway with several rooms. They must then enter a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb room to practice that part of speech in order to be ready to solve a case.
After learning about the parts of speech, students choose a case to solve, such as The Mystery of the Creepy Caller. Each case begins with an audio introduction. Then, students practice one or more parts of speech.
An assessment helps teachers determine students' mastery. Teacher options allow for many adaptations. A tutorial helps remind students of each part of speech and its critical components.
