Vocabulary Development 2 follows our award-winning Vocabulary Development program and is designed to address the increasingly complex vocabulary needs of middle and high school students.
An excellent preparation for standardized tests, including the SAT, Vocabulary Development 2 is designed to strengthen vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
Words are presented in varying forms: synonyms, antonyms, and homophones with prefixes and suffixes to build understanding and appreciation of language use.
The program encourages students to relate current knowledge to contextual clues, discovering the exact word meaning required. Multiple word meanings are also stressed, allowing students to correctly use unfamiliar words and to more accurately define known words.
Vocabulary Development 2 is ordered into six progressive levels of difficulty with 44 multilevel lessons and may be used in self-paced or test form. The material is multiple choice and help screens with instructional material may be viewed.
The program tracks and records the progress and score of each individual student
Teachers may customize Vocabulary Development 2 by adding an unlimited number of new exercises and may adjust the program to an individual user, determining starting level and the number of tries each student is allowed.
Vocabulary Development 2 builds upon the foundation words used in the first volume; synonyms, antonyms, prefixes. Homophones, multiple meanings and context clues that are more complex in structure allow students to apply experience and context to generate meanings for unfamiliar words and to more accurately define known words.
- Minimum System Requirements: Stand Alone CD (Windows/Mac System 9 Classic)
Program is provided on a Win/Mac or Windows only CD and will run on Windows 2K , XP, and Vista. Macintosh System 9 Classic platforms (OS 9 Classic). CD must remain in drive to run program.
- Windows: Pentium II or higher, 32 MB RAM, Windows compatible sound card recommended. 8x CD-ROM drive or greater.
- Macintosh: PowerPC, System 9x, 32MB RAM, 256 colors or greater, 8x CD-Rom drive. OS X users, titles will run on systems which support OS9 Classic.
