Acrobat Capture from Adobe
Convert large volumes of paper documents to searchable Adobe PDF
Adobe Acrobat Capture 3.0 software is a professional production tool that teams with your scanner to convert volumes of paper documents into searchable Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Accurate OCR, advanced page and content recognition, and powerful cleanup tools let you turn all your important paper-based information into high-quality electronic documents ready for publication via the Web, intranets, extranets, CD-ROM, and more. Sophisticated productivity features streamline processing from start to finish, so you can get your jobs done more efficiently than ever.
How Acrobat Capture works
Every office has reams of paper scattered on desktops and buried deep within folders and file cabinets. Reaching this information shouldn't require a major excavation. Now you can turn these printed documents into instantly accessible resources instead of artifacts awaiting rediscovery. Adobe Acrobat Capture software makes it fast and easy to put paper documents to work online.
Preserve paper documents in perfect condition - electronically.
Acrobat Capture lets you convert paper documents to electronic files in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), which accurately reproduces the look and feel of the printed page, complete with fonts, graphics, formatting, and color, black-and-white, or grayscale images. Adobe PDF files are fully searchable, and you can add annotations, cross-document links, and bookmarks to help viewers navigate quickly using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 software.
Here's how it works:
Simply scan a printed page of any document - from contracts and spreadsheets to brochures, books, and magazines. (Acrobat Capture supports all of the leading scanners.) The image is sent straight to your desktop computer.
In seconds, Acrobat Capture converts the scanned image to an electronic copy in Adobe PDF.
Once your document is in Adobe PDF, it is completely platform-independent. Send it to a colleague across the hall or to thousands of people around the world - attached to an e-mail, made available across your company network, posted on your Web site, or distributed on a CD or through an internal document management system. Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, and UNIX system users can all instantly access Adobe PDF files by using the freely distributed Adobe Reader software. Acrobat 5.0 lets you view PDF files seamlessly from within Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Convert entire collections of documents, such as contracts, product documentation, and other corporate data, to easily accessible Adobe PDF archives. Documents can then be searched using popular Web index engines, document management systems, or Acrobat 5 via the Catalog tool.
